When in Vienna

After an early start at 9 am with more number theory, we were ready to take an epic weekend trip to Vienna, the heartland of Austria. Those of us traveling took the 11:40 am train from Budapest and arrived in Vienna around 3:00 pm. Here's the traditional going-to-Vienna selfie:

Woops! Wrong one. Here it is:

After grabbing our 48-hour transit tickets, we traveled to our respective living quarters for the weekend.

Most students chose to stay in the Wombat's City Hostel, a vibrant, high-energy hangout spot popular among young travelers.

A few of us chose to stay in hotels elsewhere in the city. Once we had settled in, it was time to look for places to eat. Many of us decided to embrace the national cuisine and have a taste of Weiner schnitzel, visiting the nearby restaurants Schnitzelwirt and other places we can't remember the name of.

With only a few hours left in the day, we hurried to explore as much as we could before the closing time of most attractions. Some of us checked out St. Stephen's cathedral, others tried (but did not succeed) to go ice skating, and still others perused the shops of Vienna, getting a taste of the Austrian fashion sense.

As we get ready for bed, we pull out our laptops and phones to plan out the day ahead. We will all be sure to make the most of it!

  1. I enjoy tracking the not so Photogenic Three and created a map of places they visited. Click the link below. Zoom to Budapest, Pecs, or Vienna to see where they checked-in. Click the location on the left of the map for more info.

I will update the map through the end of the trip. Safe travels for everyone!
