Csipp Csepp (Drip Drop)

After our first day off, we're back at it again! Tess started her day a little earlier than expected. Housekeeping was moving bright and early at 8:30 this morning. Tess, on the other hand, was not. Perhaps due to this, or in spite of it, they took pity on us and left a drying rack in our room when it became clear that we needed it.

Eventually, we made it to class on time. Our Hungarian lesson included a catchy song about icicles melting which is still stuck in all of our heads.  Despite the song's lyrics, icicles are nowhere near melting in Budapest.  The Danube is looking close to frozen over from the cold snap we've been experiencing.

We have our last Hungarian lesson tomorrow, and we're all looking forward to using what we've learned in the city! After a break for lunch, we had a math lecture. It was prime.

Then, we split into groups to explore the city, study and have dinner. Some of us went to Kelet Cafe, where we enjoyed fancy hot chocolate while attempting to do our homework.

Others visited the Hospital in the Hill, a preserved WWII hospital and nuclear bunker. Pro-tip: avoid any sign that says "sugár," which is Hungarian for radiation. The only picture we were allowed to take in the building should be available on their website in about a week, so we'll keep you posted.  Although the wax figures were a little macabre, we still would recommend a visit to this unique, historical site.

Dinners were varied, from traditional Hungarian dishes to Italian and beautiful gelato creations.

We still have homework to do...amidst Sarah and Kate's harmonized whistling and knee cracking to our catchy Hungarian song.

May the icicles be melting wherever you are!
Kate A., Sarah, Sam, & Tess
