Szentendre

We took the train to Szentendre, a small suburb outside of Budapest. Tagging along with us was a fellow Ole, David, who will be spending the spring semester studying here in Budapest in the the BSM program. After a 20-minute-or-so train ride that featured some hardcore jamming out, we made it to Szentendre. As we walked into the town, we found ourselves going in circles trying find the museum. That is not to say we didn't find ways to entertain ourselves however--the fresh snow piled on the edges of the streets provided quite a bit of fun!

Luckily, we made it to the Kovács Margit Kerámiamúzeum (the Kovacs Margit Ceramic Museum). It contained a collection of ceramic pieces created by a Hungarian artist.

After that, we were free to explore the town on our own. We discovered some great food, visited an old church, walked along the river, and meandered through both residential areas and a tourist street with many little shops (and of course proceeded with snowball fights).

We headed back to Budapest at various times throughout the afternoon, struggling to stay awake for the duration of the short train ride after a tiring day away from the city!

We used the remainder of the afternoon and the evening for various activities including studying for Monday's midterm, napping, eating pasta at an Italian restaurant, enjoying flower-shaped gelato, and going to a production of "Cyrano de Bergerac" at the National Theatre (Nemzeti Színhás).

We see a lot of studying in our future, but considering how delicious the gelato was, we also see a lot of gelato in our future--probably in direct relation to the amount of studying we will be doing!
Hope midterms are going well back home,
Love from Budapest,

Kate A., Sarah, Sam, & Tess
